Livin’ the Dream: One Lovely Blog

Melanie over at Livin’ The Dream has awarded me the “One Lovely Blog” award. I’m pretty chuffed (I know you love that word, Melanie!). Not only did she pass this award on to me, she’s also featuring me on her blog this week as a part of her Blogger-dash Game (which I won, because I made up meanings to nonsensical captcha words). Head on over, play Blogger-Dash and check out HER lovely blog, where she lives her dream as a mum of 6 (SIX) children and wife to a “closer-to-perfect husband”.

So the plan is to share 7 fun facts about myself, and then pass the award on to some blogs that I find lovely!

1. I might be a little obsessed with Babushka dolls…

Photobucket
2.  And handmade clothes – these are all made my Mee-mah!

3.  I’m listening to a Yo Gabba Gabba cd now, even though the boys aren’t even in the room and Roo is down for her nap.  Yooooo Gabba Gabba!!!

4. This was the moment that I fell in love with the idea of twins,  just over 3 weeks before they were born (nearly 31 weeks gestation).  That is Fraser’s (Twin One) ear, and Oscar’s (Twin Two) hand covering his face. It looked as if Oscar were whispering into his brother’s ear.  It’s when the little babies inside me finally became people in my mind.

5. I did this cross stitch when I was about 12 years old and my mother saved it, and has now sewn it onto a top for Roo to wear! I can’t believe how awesome that is! And, as you can see, Roo LOVES it.  I love doing cross stitch, sewing and knitting (Even though I’m no good at it!).  The repetitive motion helps me drown out all the crazy thoughts spinning in my head.

Photobucket
6.  Pal and I have been together for 5 years (with a hiccup last year), and married for nearly 4.  He hates that photo of himself in the green shirt, and it always makes me giggle.  Happy Birthday Pal, 31 on the 31st!

Photobucket
7. Yes, that is my natural hair colour.  It has been since I was about four.  P.S. This is my favourite photo of Roo (at 4 months) and I.  That Blue Steel face of hers still gets a good work out, and because of the light she looks like she has my eyes.  Truth is, all my children look like Pal and I am just hanging out that the boys end up redheads like me! It’s the only way I’ll get a look in!

Now, I have a few lovely blogs (it’s meant to be five, but I think these three are extra deserving) that I’m passing this award onto, read them, share them, follow them, love their lovely blogs!

Flying High, Out to Sea and the Mongability Factor

All I can say is that Yesterday. Was. Awesome.

I had such a great time, and I think the boys did as well. They were exhausted, so that’s probably a good indication of a day well spent. I think also, for the first time in history, I was pretty much nearly all organised! There were only a few last minute tasks and I did forget the knife and a lighter/matches for the cake (can you believe not one person had a lighter? Only one smoker out of the whole cast of attendees, and he knows me well enough that he didn’t even bring his cigarettes or a lighter in case I gave him a “look”). Luckily for me, Pal was at work (yes he had to work, it sucked) and was coming up for the cake cutting so he brought a monster knife – it was nearly as long as the half slab cakes – and a lighter from work with him. God love that man. So my day was more fun that fluster, simply because I had everything timed out and ready for launch-time. Also, I had some good friends and family around to help me!

I did a fantastic job of looking as mong as I could in all the pictures taken: (a) because I know you love how mong I look and (b) because I really can’t help it, it’s gotta be some kind of talent.

New word:

Mongability – the ability to look super mong as soon as a camera comes within 10 feet of you.

My mongability factor (out of 10) is 9.5. I lose 0.5 of a point because my mong factor is not only adorable, it is also hilarious. And I’m pretty sure someone took a good photo of me a couple years ago.

My children also have a mongability factor, but it’s only about a 3 or 4. They manage to look cute nearly all of the time!

Enjoy!

Little clay pilots, sailors and plane and boat by my lovely, wonderful amazing friend Hatayisa (real name Annalisa).  I’m still sure she undercharged me, I just love these little guys! Each little figurine comes out of his place and is interchangeable.  They’ve been cleaned up and are to be used for a photo shoot on Friday, and after that to be placed in high esteem on the display shelves in the boys’ room!

There were SOOOO many children, I had to post this photo (my mum will not be pleased there’s a pic of her on my blog, but I couldn’t help it).

All Seven grandchildren, and Mee-mah! Pretty good shot if you ask me, considering 5 of those kids are 2.5yrs and under!!!!

Oh so exhausted! Oscar gets ready for the walk home.

A big thank you to everyone who came and made the day so wonderful!  My helpers (My Bestie Amelia), my friends (Leah came all the way from Adelaide with her gorgeous girl Amber, and Wendy came from Sydney with two kids under two, both women on their own!).

Leah – thank you for coming all this way! I appreciate it so much!!  Many other family and friends couldn’t make it from much closer; and your balloon blowing and lollybag filling skills are AWESOME!  I was so happy to spend time with you and your gorgeous daughter. You deserve all the love and happiness that life throws at you, and then some! Also, thank you for letting me steal the photos off your camera! I didn’t take mine because I’m cool like that (mong moment number 3921).

Amelia – I could never have any of these parties without all of your help.  You are my sounding board, my bring-back-to-earther and Super Organiser Woman and Kid Wrangler Extraordinaire!  You are my best friend and I am so thankful you are in my life.  I could write you a thousand love letters and it wouldn’t be enough.  What would I do without you?

To my beautiful boys: Happy, happy, happy birthday! You have come such a long way in such a short space of time. I am in awe of you little beings!

I Heart Friends

It’s Heart Week here, so go check out Precious Hearts and their June Donation Drive.. Even if you are not able to contribute anything other than a SHARE on Facebook or Twitter, spreading the word is a gift in itself!

My Bestie Amelia (aka Aunty Smenies) is coming to my house today. I woke up at 6am, just like a kid at Christmas. I can’t wait to see her and her family. I love her babies so much. There will obviously be more to come on this topic, but let me just say: YAAAAYYYAAAAYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYY!

Also, it’s Fraser and Oscar’s first birthday and party tomorrow (I’m getting a little emotional about the past year), so we have a few friends coming – some even all the way from South Australia! I can’t wait to sit down with a hot cup of tea and have a good old gossip natter about our lives!

Here’s a pic of me and Aunty Smenies and our babies in early January LAST year:

Me, Fraser and Oscar in the green (14 weeks), and Aunty Smenies and Bunny (35 weeks)  in the stripes – I absolutely LOVE this photo!
